9 Ways To Treat Hormonal Acne

01/02/2024

blog-2

As someone who has suffered hormonal acne for years, finally having smooth and glowing skin again is a life-changing treasure. I had severe acne on my face, chest, back, and arm, it was not an easy experience to go through because of people around me and my life has been affected. It is a long process, don’t expect it to work overnight. However, here are 9 points I had practiced daily:

#1: Exfoliating regularly

Trust me on this one, If you have acne blemish skin, exfoliating regularly clears your acne. Because exfoliating removes dead skin and unclogged pores, which are the main reasons why you break out. Choosing an exfoliating product is important. If you have sensitive skin like me, I recommend Meaki exfoliating glove because it is made from silk so it is gentle on your skin.

#2: Sheet mask every night

Although it is recommended sheet mask should be used 2-3 times a week, I couldn’t see any result from using sheet mask like that. I remembered I saw an online post about using a face mask every day, make your face hydrated, and it worked like a miracle. It is a bit costly but going to the clinic costs more.

#3: Full body moisturizing lotion

I had severe acne on my chest and back, and somehow, I thought using moisturizing lotion would make my acne worsen but it worked differently. Keep my body skin hydrated with lotion such as Vaseline and use glove exfoliation to help with the breakout. Now I hardly have any acne on my body. Using body wash that has salicylic acid also helps. Do not use harsh chemical whitening lotion.

#4: Diet

Since I moved to Australia, I have started to cook by myself. I started to eat healthier. I can slowly see that my health and skin become better.

#5: Exercise

Exercise increases blood flow to the skin, allowing more nutrients to permeate through the layers and slow down the aging process of skin cells. Moreover, it can boost collagen levels since it improves mood and reduces stress. You might also notice that the athlete has clear and tight skin.

#6: Simplify skin care

Simplify your skincare and focus on cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating your skin. Trendy skincare is not always best for your skin, try to research it before purchasing. Keep using the product that your skin loves.

#7: Bedsheet

You should change your bed sheet every week. Bacteria on your pillowcase is probably the reason you break out.

#8: Not touching your face

I literally shout at anyone who touches my face. Your hands contain so much bacteria that could irritate your skin. Even holding the phone to your ear could be a source.

#9: Go to the hormonal hospital, not the clinics

After trying all those steps and your acne is still worse, I suggest going to a hormonal doctor, not a skin clinic that keeps asking you to do treatments. Treatment is for enhancing your skin health, not curing the root of the problem.
